Exploring Dubai Creek

Feeling like tourists, we bought 20Dirham tickets to ride the RTA double decker bus from Abu Dhabi to Dubai. Women are treated with respect here, so as usual there is a separate waiting line for women hence it was very easy to purchase our tickets.

Our ride started from Abu Dhabi Bus Stand near the Al Wahda Mall and then we got down to Al Ghubaiba Bus Station in Bur Dubai.

Most will recommend that one of the nicest things to do when you visit Dubai is to try the Abra - they are  traditional wooden boats. These small boats are parked along the historic Dubai creek within just a walking distance from the Bus Station. It is very cheap. We paid a dirham and then sailed along together with 15-20 other passengers to cross from Bur Dubai to Deira Old Souk. 

There were many people at the loading docks who were also very eager to hop-in the Abra, we saw a mix of tourists and expats mostly Bengalis, Indians, and Filipinos. 

Surrounded by old and new buildings alike, the creek flows silently at the center of the city. As we sailed, we were greeted by the cool November breeze, it was so refreshing. 

Also a special place to visit is the Deira Old Souk.

The Deira covered souk is an old  narrow street with colorful assortment of merchandise hanging on display on both sides of the road. It looks so alive because of the variety of products like handicrafts, spices, traditional household items, souvenirs and a lot of shiny fabrics and traditional clothes. This souk is said to be one of the oldest in Dubai.

Really, it is a must visit place for visitors!
